Instructional
The Instructional program is for kids of all ages where kids learn the basics of hockey such as stick-handling, passing, shooting, and skating. Participants should have basic skating skills, preferably having gone through at least one Learn to Skate program.
Atom (ages 4-6)
The Atom program emphasizes individual skills of skating, passing, shooting, stick-handling as well as positions and basic rules. Games are played half-ice for children of this level. There is always at least one coach on the ice during the games so that they may help teach the children positional play. Each child will play a new position every week so that they may get a better understanding of all of them. If there is a penalty the player will serve that penalty but the teams will continue to play at even strength. No score is kept, this level of hockey is all about having fun and learning the game.
Mite (ages 6-8)
The Mite program emphasizes individual skills of skating, passing, shooting, stick-handling as well as positions and basic rules. Games are played full-ice for children of this level. There is always at least one coach on the ice during the games so that they may help teach the children good positional play. Each child will play a new position every week so that they may get a better understanding of all of them. If there is a penalty the player will serve that penalty but the teams will continue to play at even strength.
Squirt (ages 8-10) and Middle School (ages 11-14)
The Squirt and Middle School programs consist of individual skills as well as team concepts, positioal play, and basic rules. Children at the Middle School level will also learn the proper checking techniques.
